Alumnae Opportunity

Young Leader Speaking Tour

This annual program offers three distinguished graduates of the Tomorrow’s Women’s Young Leader Program the opportunity to build on their public speaking and leadership skills by joining the Young Leader Speaking Tour and sharing their personal stories of growing up in conflict and violence and choosing to become peacemakers. Once selected, alumnae are invited to travel to the United States for two weeks, receive public speaking training and coaching to create a 2-3 minute personal narrative on an aspect of peacemaking that is most meaningful to them. These transformative talks are then shared virtually and in person with hundreds of individuals from all backgrounds, on a multi-city tour at diverse venues including interfaith organizations, churches, synagogues, high schools, universities, and private homes.

Since 2009 these tours have reached thousands of people across the United States offering a glimpse at the powerful role young women can play in the peace movement and establishing Tomorrow’s Women as a true platform for peacemakers. Cities visited include Berkeley, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Seattle, Oakland, and most recently New York, where the Young Leaders spoke to an international audience at the CSW NGO Forum held in conjunction with the United Nation’s annual two-week summit.

There are people behind every conflict and people have different stories to learn. That's what I'll take from this.
