Our Mission

Tomorrow’s Women trains young women from Palestine, Israel, and the United States to be strong, compassionate leaders who partner to resolve conflicts and inspire action that promotes equality, peace, and justice for all.

Our Philosophy

At Tomorrow’s Women, we believe that peace cannot be realized through force. We define peace as an absence of violence, and also as the on-going process of creating an inclusive culture in which all people’s rights are equally respected and all voices are heard.

We acknowledge that we operate in a reality of occupation, in which the balance of power between two people is not equal. Individuals engaged in our work may hold different ideas about political solutions but share a commitment to non-violence and the conviction that justice and peace, as defined above, are possible.

We recognize that while cynicism, hopelessness, victim mentality, and other self-defeating beliefs serve as barriers to action, they are understandable feelings for those who live in conflict. We do, however, reject the notion that these barriers prevent positive thinking and action. We have faith in the integrity and power of each individual and her potential to create change, and in the collective responsibility to work towards social justice, an end to the conflict, and a restoration of equal rights.

Following the year 2000, the United Nations Security Resolution 1325, became a landmark plan for women, peace, and security, recognizing that women’s perspectives and voices are currently under-represented in the peace process. Because of this, we dedicate our work to women, believing that they will lead the change.

Additionally, Tomorrow’s Women works in line with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, adopted by all member states in 2015:

• Goal Five: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls.
• Goal Sixteen: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable, and inclusive institutions at all levels.

THEREFORE, in our organization, we will:

• Respect the dignity of every human being and the right of all to live in peace;
• Listen with compassion to all points of view;
• Provide tools and opportunities that enable young women to realize their own unique power as individuals and as a collective;
• Summon the courage to speak authentically and act on behalf of peace, equality, and justice for all.
